Pipeline video inspection and high pressure jetting-Great Diamond Island Maine

High pressure jetting

Great Diamond Island is a gorgeous place in the summer. An island off the coast of Maine that was once a military barracks and fort It has only about 100 year round residents but 2000 summer residents.  The views are amazing, the natural island beauty is spectacular! Northeast Sewer & Drain was asked by R.E. Coleman to inspect a 1000ft of pipe and high pressure jet the lines to clean them out. The first night the guys didn't get back to the main land until after 10pm because the barge was late due to the tide.  The second night Rod Coleman had to go and...

Why dig? When you can go trenchless…

Peggy Moores loves that her house it sits on a street lined with old growth oak trees, beautifully maintained flower gardens and historic homes. But she also knows that beneath her front yard lies an inevitable and potentially pricey repair. "I have an old house, and the sewer line has always been a worry for me," The Portland Maine native says. Moores is concerned about the condition of the pipe connecting her 1920 home's plumbing to the city main that runs down her street. "Several friends of ours who have had older homes here have had to replace their sewer lines," Moores says. "It's an expensive...

Broken or clogged sewer line symptoms..

Sometimes when your sewer line breaks you don't notice it for sometime, while others will back up immediately...Either way there are tell tale signs that your sewer has backed-up or is broken. First is there bubbling in the toilet?...And sometimes It really bubbles.  This picture is a simulation it really doesn't foam, it's more like a gurgle Second, the toilet, sink or tub will drain very slowly. If the sink and toilet in only one bathroom are draining slowly then it's probably a clogged interior line not your main sewer line.  If all the drains are draining slowly then it's a main...

Drain cleaning lingo

Drain cleaning can mean different things to different people.  Having owned a drain cleaning service company for the last 7 years I have caught on to it......Almost Different demo graphics, areas.... that's the difference.  Someone living in rural Maine will have a septic system and someone living in the city of Portland will be hooked up to the cities main sewer system. But the catch is, if the person calling used to live in the country and had a septic system and now lives in the city and are on city sewer, it can get really confusing, so I've come up with a system,...

Drains in Maine

With Hurricane Sandy behind us, Maine fared pretty well.  We had a few major drain emergency's but Mainers took precautions and weathered this storm. Now with a Nor'easter bearing down on the east coast we are in for more heavy rain:(  Storm drains are at capacity!  Leaves and debris are covering drain grates....   If you see your storm drains collecting debris, please clean them off, this is first prevention for back ups and flooding. If you you are having drain problems and your basement keeps flooding, I would recommend having your lines televised by a drain camera. This a really inexpensive...

Drains and Hurricanes

Drain cleaning certainly picks up when hurricanes arrive in Maine. The already saturated ground, sump pumps and drainage systems cannot keep up with the heavy rain that is sure to plague us in the next 3 days.  City drainage lines take on debris such as leaves and sticks and rushing water has no place to go...And your basement becomes flooded. To avoid this, make sure all catch basins near your house are clear of leaves and trash, make sure sump pumps are in good working order and make sure all positive drain exits are clear of any leaves, slime or trash...

Drain cleaning in Maine

This is busy time of year for Northeast Sewer & Drain in Southern Maine.  Frost is about to set in, camp water lines need to be jetted, septic tanks need to be inspected and any exterior drains that were running slow need to be jetted out before it snows (roots love spring run off). So the phone is ringing off the hook to get these things all done. We were in Millinocket today with our remote Rovver camera televising drainage lines for the old dump. We will be posting video of that here, and on our YouTube channel...Interesting finds I'm sure. Also, root removal for University of Southern Maine Gorham...
