Drain snaking vs. hydro jetting

As a home owner we all are looking to get the best services at the lowest price. Especially now that many Americans are facing hard times and every penny counts. That’s why Northeast Sewer & Drain Service believes that making informed maintenance decisions will not only save you money in the long run but will provide comfort and reassurance too.  Nobody wants the large expense of replacing their main sewer line.  With todays technology Northeast Sewer & Drain Service has many options instead of digging up your entire front yard, and most of the time we don’t have to, your clogged main line drain is most likely infiltrated with roots.High pressure jetting

There are two different ways to clean out your main sewer line:  You can power snake (roto-rooter) or High pressure-jet the sewer line.

When Northeast Sewer snakes your main sewer line we always do a video drain inspection first, an extra expense but necessary. This will allow us to see exactly what is going on in your drain, and how your plumbing system runs and it’s condition. Some common problems with residential plumbing, is that the main drain starts in the home as a 3” pipe, but turns into a 4”-6” pipe outside the home. Because lots of homes do not have an outside clean out (or they’ve been covered up) gaining access to the now 4”-6” pipe is difficult  Drain cleaners must rooter or power snake the main drain by entering the 3” hole inside the home to clean a 4”-6” pipe. Because drain cleaners must use a 3” head for the 4” pipe, we cannot get a full clean out. This will only “punch a small hole” in the blockage.

Northeast Sewer & Drain Service has a better, longer lasting, alternative – High pressure hydro-jetting.High pressue jetting

Hydro-Jetting is when we send a hose down the sewer line blasting high pressurized water around the interior of the pipe. This will allow your drain cleaner to create an un-restricted flow as if your pipe were new again.  Hydro-jetting is the most effective manner to clean a sewer line.  Most homeowners that have tree roots have their line snaked on average once a year. When homeowners get their sewer line hydro jetted, most  can go a few years before seeing problems.

Add a yearly treatment of Root-Ex (around $30.00) through Northeast Sewer & Drain Service or your local hardware store and you won’t have to see us for 3-4 years.
